Operating Position

Operating Position

KPE operating position.  Note large lightning switch (same as in KPH Hillcrest photo).  High voltage sifn on antenna lead makes its point with skull and crossbones.  Transmitter is tube type.  Two keys are screwed to the table to the right of the receiver with a DPDT knife switch to select between them.  Electrical connections go to overhead light socket rather than to wall outlets, common for the time.

Power Panel

Slate power panel with drop light coiled over panel illuminating light (bulbs missing from both).  Two crank phones, possibly for two different phone systems, have their microphone trumpets removed, a common "improvement" of the era (see the press room phones in movie "His Girl Friday")

Test and Experimental

Test and Experimental

Possibly the test and experimental bench.  The key to the left seems to be the same one seen in the extreme right of the operating position photo which would put this bench to the right of the operating position.  What looks like a four tube self excited transmitter appears to be under test or possibly in use.  What appears to be the office may be seen through the window.
