Here is a closeup of the completed HF receiver (which also covers MF as a backup) with the HF transmitter above.
A close view of the emergency crystal receiver, mandated by international regulation, showing its cat's whisker and tuning dial. The receiver turns out to be remarkably sensitive and selective. At one time all transmissions on 500kc. were in A2 emission so they could be heard on these receivers.
